With the participation of a representative of His Excellency President Abdullah Gul, Istanbul hosts the investment and development conference in the province of Al-Anbar, Iraq
The investment and development conference in the province of Al-Anbar Which took place at the Marmara Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey during the period 9-11 February 2009 was concluded.
The conference was organised by Al-Anbar investment commission and by the management and coordination of Safe Route public relations and communications, United Kingdom.
The conference was attended by a large number of businessmen and economic institutions, trade and investment from different countries and the Turkish attendance and participation was well noticed.
The Conference was opened by the participation of high-level personalities and acquired extensive media coverage; speakers on the opening session were their Excellencies:
- Arshad Al-Hurmuzi: Turkish President Adviser for Middle East Affairs, a representative of His Excellency President Abdullah Gul
- Mamoun Rasheed: Governor of Al-Anbar
- Dr Amer Awadh: Chairman of Investment commission
- Firas Al-Kubaisi: Director of Provincial Affairs in the Iraqi Investment commission
- Ahmed Al-Baiyati: Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy of Iraq in Ankara
- Naser Al-Manea: General Manager of Safe Route public relations and communications
Over three days, investment opportunities in the large province of Al-Anbar were introduced. Those opportunities were in various areas including oil and gas, industry, housing, agriculture, tourism, management of free zones and other sectors.
The three-day conference provided meetings between investors and members of the Investment commission who praised the investment law in Iraq which offers considerable protection to the investors, provides facilities in the contracting procedures and implementation and offers benefits such as tax exemptions and free transfer of funds and measures to facilitate transfer of employment and the import of raw materials.
During the conference, a series of study projects were put forward and in the third and final day of the conference a cooperation agreement between the participating institutions and companies and the investment commission of in Al-Anbar, which was represented by Dr Amer Awadh: Chairman of Investment commission, were signed.
